Tradition in Every Bite
After Jerry Wampach’s sale of the restaurant in the 70’s, the next four owners have tried to keep Wampach’s a small-town diner, in what is no longer a small town. We still make our own soups, gravies, daily specials, and desserts. The menu is very similar to the first ones. No one really wants a Braunschweiger sandwich anymore but for some unknown reason they do still want liver.
Keeping the Tradition Going
Lois and her son Nelson didn’t just take over a restaurant—they kept a community gathering place alive. In July of 2022, after decades of working there (Lois for 23 years and Nelson for 15), they stepped up to carry on the legacy of a hometown café loved by Shakopee. Their decision was all about honoring what made the place special and making sure it stayed that way.
Homemade and Heartfelt
The kitchen runs on care and real ingredients. From homemade soups and rich gravy to signature items like the Hot Beef Sandwich and Country Fried Steak with two eggs, every dish reflects years of experience and love for the craft. The food is simple, honest, and made fresh daily—just like it’s always been.
